Summer Days

Summer days on the lake are filled with enjoyable activities. Most days the menfolk go out fishing in their boats and bring home a good catch. That leaves lots of time for the girls to play. We visit with one another in our RVs, share photos, have iPhone lessons and learn about new apps, have friends to lunch in the RV, or meet friends in the local 'Malt Shoppe' for lunch. When we are not doing things together, I write emails, play WWF, check Facebook, tidy up my photos, do up the blog, bead, read or bake. There doesn't seem to ever be enough time to concentrate or get into the 'zone' for continuing on with my book. I haven't had a chance to touch it since I have been here. Although I did get a bit motivated, thanks to my brother Chris, and bought myself a book called 'The Essential Guide to Getting your Book Published'. It is a bit bigger than I was expecting, so it will take  me a while to get through it! The reviews were good though...Now I just have to get a spare moment to open it at page 1!
As I am sure you are all aware that on Saturday 22nd June earthlings witnessed a 'supermoon' - a full moon that is the closest the moon will be to the earth and the largest full moon - for this year. Sadly we had storms brewing on Saturday night and couldn't even see where the moon might be hiding behind the clouds, but we made up for it on Sunday night. The moon shining over the lake was so beautiful. After dominoes I got my camera and took some photos - once again, the beauty I saw through my own eyes could not be captured by a man-made camera! However I was happy with the photo so I will share it with you.

Our girl friend Irene drove an hour from Bismarck to visit with Avalyn and moi, and kindly bought lunch and afternoon tea! We sat in Avalyn's RV and spent several pleasant hours eating and catching up on each others news. The menfolk were out fishing so they missed the delicious rotisserie chicken and all the salads, but they enjoyed the iced cookies for afternoon tea. Irene is also our Mary Kay rep, so we had fun trying samples. I thought of my friend Leonie when I tried on a bright red lipstick, and Murray even scored a travel-size aftershave.

One of the delights of camping at Audubon the last two summers has been playing dominoes of an evening. Kathy and Milt taught us the game in Florida last year, and now we are hooked. Avalyn, Murray and I join Kathy and Milt in their RV each evening at 7pm or 7.30pm, and the game usually goes for 3 hours. On the night Avalyn took this photo, she had agreed to play cards with other friends, but she dropped over to take the photo. We enjoy a very pleasant 3 hours of strategy (not much!), chatting and eating. We bring along something to share, but Kathy does the bulk of the snack provision. Thanks Kathy.

Sometimes it is so relaxing to just sit out in the morning sun (before it gets too hot) with a cup of coffee and look out over the lake - simply absorbing the 'aura'. I can watch the boats and see the fisherman pulling in their catch, or just simply 'be'. I usually have my camera beside me, and I am glad I did on this occasion, as I was able to capture this family of Canada geese with their 12 chicks.
